How to pick a wedding date post-pandemic:

There are many phases to planning a wedding. And most importantly, the first step is picking a date. During Covid-19, it can be hard knowing when will be best, as levels have been changing quickly. Since New Zealand has moved from Alert Level 4 back down to Level 1 where there are no longer any restrictions on events, you are good to go with picking a date. Top tips when picking a date:

  • Read over contracts with your venue and each vendor involved in your wedding to make sure that you can move your wedding date if there is a change in Levels for Covid-19. (ensure it is free of charge and all payments are transferable to the new date).

  • Contact loved ones to let them know the date.

  • Plan for this date as though Covvid-19 is not a thing. This means that if levels are to change again, all the groundwork will be done and you can more easily move your wedding day if needed.

  • Create a wedding website. This is an easy way for you to keep in contact with your guests. Websites have set up Covid-19 specific messages to send all of your guests in your database. This keeps them up to date if a change occurs.

Including overseas guests post Pandemic

Once you have locked in the date, it is time to flick through your friends and family list. Because there are no current event restrictions in New Zealand, you are free to invite an unlimited number of people (within your venue limit). Unfortunately, we know that the borders are closed for an unforeseen future, so having overseas loved ones at your wedding is not promised. This can make planning your wedding tough, but there are such fun ways to include them from afar.

Top tips for your guest list:

  • We know how rough this is to have loved ones missing your day, but live streaming your wedding so those who can’t make it are still able to celebrate with you. This is such a personal and inclusive touch.

  • Send an e-invite for your e-wedding live stream as overseas postage is much slower than usual.

  • We think it is so important to still go on with your wedding day if you can. And the positive to this scenario is that you can plan a trip to visit the overseas family and friends that could not make it to your wedding. This way, you get lots of quality time with them to look forward to. And the pressure of the big wedding day is gone, leaving you to celebrate with them.
